Agility Community Looses One of the Best Gate Stewards EVER!

Dolores Weiss

I wrote this post for the Pacific Northwest Agility group, but it seems fitting to share with everyone.
Many of you may remember Dan & Dolores Weiss, they visited the PNW about 10 years ago on their trip to/from the Southeastern part of the country as they were RVing on vacation to Alaska. A lovely couple who jumped in and helped at the local trials, just as they would at home.

I’m saddened to share that Dolores passed away due to complications from cancer. She was diagnosed just a few short months ago.

For those that didn’t know them, one of the greatest things they did for our sport was to volunteer at every single trial they attended. It didn’t matter if it was their local club or a club out of state. Thanks to Dolores and her love of gate stewarding, there was always a solid presence in an important position, a consistent “good luck!” to escort every person entering the ring and a “Yeah!” when their run ended.

A friend said “Heaven just received the best Gate Steward ever!” and I couldn’t agree more.

My prayers go out to Dan, the family and their many, many friends.
